76 was a magical group, we were the first 9th graders to be in the new High School, first to have astro-turf, and we had modules, with modular clocks, made our own class schedules, and were permitted to come and go from the school with no restrictions or accountability, there was even a "smoking area" ...isn't that hard to believe? we had "free-time" (13-18) was the ultimate hour and a half (lunch break), we could go to West Virginia, or Settlers for lunch, and be back in time for our final class before sports practice began. People had "OPEN HOUSE", as in the parents were in the Bahamas, and our parties were rated by the # of "kegs", ...a 5 kegger was like a 5*, the police helped direct traffic, and we never had any fights or busts or problems, just FUN!

Ed was a good freind, and an excellent dentist.Ed was a teammate and fun to hang out with. He had  great parents, brother and sisters. He was our family dentist, and to this day, neither my son nor daughter have had one cavity, and both have outstanding, strait, super white teeth. I was with Ed, not so long ago, so it is a real shock and a sad ending, to a life filled with such talent and skill.  Maybe there's more to the story, and everyone has a (secret burden) or a cross they must carry, but Ed never displayed that, and I wish I had the chance to reach out to him, and offer some advice to change the outcome. Ed liked Pitt fOOTBALL, bASKETBALL, bASEBALL, , the Pirates, the Steelers, the Penguins and all things Pittsburgh, I will miss you , Rest in Peace my good brother, your freind, and fellow Blue Devil  ,Phil Fagan.
